Wyeth Around the World
In 2008, Wyeth spent approximately $3.3 billion on research and
development, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical, vaccine and biopharmaceutical
approaches to treating and preventing disease. Moving forward, the focus of our
discovery efforts will be to address high unmet needs in six core therapeutic
areas: oncology, inflammation, neurosciences (including Alzheimer's disease),
vaccines, metabolic disorders and musculoskeletal. Wyeth's R&D pipeline
includes novel candidate medicines across our three platforms - small
molecules, vaccines, and biopharmaceuticals. Many of these candidate medicines
have the potential to be first-in-class, best-in-class, and/or
first-in-therapy.
