Wyeth improves the lives of millions of people with an array of outstanding
products. Wyeth prescription products cover a wide range of conditions. Many of
these products are leaders in their individual therapeutic class.
Women's Health Care
Wyeth has been the leader in women's health care with its oral contraceptives
and post-menopausal hormone drugs for over 60 years. Wyeth continues to set the
pace in women's health care by developing new medications with the potential to
improve the health of women around the world.
Wyeth demonstrated its commitment to women's health issues by forming the
Women's Health Research Institute®
in 1993. The Women's Health Research Institute-the only institute in the
pharmaceutical industry dedicated solely to research in women's health-focuses
on the identification and development of new products. The Institute cooperates
with major professional and public organizations to encourage continuing
emphasis on health care issues that uniquely affect women.
Wyeth is currently doing research on several products intended to improve the
quality of women's lives. Products include a low-dose continuous contraceptive,
a non-hormonal therapy for the relief of menopausal hot flashes, and a new
therapy for the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Wyeth
has already introduced new low dose versions of its postmenopausal hormone
therapy products.

Vaccines and Infectious Disease
The vaccines and infectious diseases franchises of Wyeth have and continue to
produce some of the most innovative products in the health care arena,
including the world's first vaccine against pneumococcal meningitis. Our
mission is to reduce the number of illnesses and deaths caused by bacterial and
viral infections and to address the growing problem of bacterial resistance to
existing antibiotic treatments. We are especially proud of the impact our
vaccines and antibiotics continue to have on the future of the world's
children.

Hemophilia and Bleeding Disorders
Since the 1980s, Wyeth has been a world leader in the search for new treatments
for hemophilia, a rare but serious bleeding disorder. Our commitment and
significant investment in recombinant DNA technology have led to important
medical advances in the treatment of these potentially debilitating diseases to
help individuals with hemophilia lead normal active lives. Wyeth has used
recombinant technology to produce factor products without using human plasma as
a starting material, which reduces the risk of human blood-borne viruses. At
Wyeth, we seek to improve the future for the hemophilia community, and this
includes partnering with other organizations to find a cure for hemophilia and
to support hemophilia patients. The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH)
established a twinning program in 1994 to help improve the lives of people with
hemophilia in under-developed countries. Wyeth has been sponsoring the twinning
program for more than six years. In addition, Canada sponsors more twinning
centres than any other participating country.

Skin Disease
Psoriasis is an incurable skin condition that affects about 2% of the world's
population and causes significant physical disability and mental stress. With
psoriasis, the immune system malfunctions, which causes skin cells to multiply
too quickly, causing inflamed, scaly patches called plaques that itch, crack,
and bleed. Until recently, there were few treatments that effectively managed
psoriasis.
